Very pleased to have received the 2011 PIARC Sustainability research award. Out of 2,000 scientific papers, 620 were selected for the conference and 8 received awards. Mitropoulos was one of my doctorate students and professor E. Nathanail of Thessaly University spent summers 2009 and 2010 at UH-Manoa.

In 2010 we concluded three years of analysis of the traffic and parking at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. The study was completed in 2008 but then Halemaumau Crater errupted and half of the Crater Rim Road was closed. All the analysis had to be re-done. This is the final slideshow presentated to the National Park Service staff of HAVO.
